Since I’m a baker, here are a baker’s dozen very random facts about me:
- I studied mime throughout high school and into my college years. (Highlight: front row seat for Marcel Marceau in 1979)
- After college I went to weaving school and learned to weave on antique looms in an old barn in Vermont (I still have the wool blanket I made there!)
- I was originally a dance major but ended up with a degree in philosophy + religion (yes, I’m a practical girl!)
- My brother and I saw a very young U2 on the Riverboat President in New Orleans in 1982. (Bonus geek fact: Bono was drinking a tiny can of Donald Duck grapefruit juice.)
- I’m a native Southerner who doesn’t like sweet tea, fried chicken or watermelon (but I DO like the summer heat).
- In 2010, I spent 6 weeks in France, selling my soaps + skincare products at a Christmas market. It was the coldest winter on record and snowed every day except one while I was there. (And, YES, I would do it again in a heartbeat!)
- My family and I are Orthodox Christians and helped found a church in our small southern town.
- In 2013, I was selected one of the 50 leading business women in Mississippi.
- I learned to cook in a vegan café. My family’s favorite vegan meal: BBQ tofu, mashed potatoes and English peas.
- It’s my fondest dream to play the accordion because accordion music makes me happy and reminds me of French cafés. I recently purchased a marbled green Weltmeister chromatic model and try to practice for at least a couple hours every day.
- coffee: Italian roast, black
- beer: extra hoppy makes me happy
- dessert: ice cream (Jamoca Almond Fudge or Chunky Monkey, please!)
