I am always getting rid of stuff.
It’s like a revolving door around here — new stuff in, old stuff out. Truthfully, as I get older the balance has swung to the “old stuff out” side. I just don’t want (and certainly don’t need) any more STUFF. That’s why it’s gotten easier and easier to let go of unwanted or unused items — if I haven’t used them in at least a year they’re outta here!
Since I’ve spent most of my life in one kitchen or another, what I’ve accumulated most is cooking stuff. Serving spoons, sieves, baking pans, cheese graters and the dreaded small appliances. There are gadgets for e v e r y thing. While most of them do what they’re meant to do, the problem is that’s ALL they do. They’re like one hit wonders. And I no longer have room for those in my life (or in my kitchen cabinets!)
why i love the ninja Fit personal blender
One tool that is definitely NOT a one hit wonder is the Ninja Fit Personal Blender. Here’s why I keep it in my kitchen (and why I think it deserves a place in yours).
It’s incredibly versatile.
With this one tool you can:
- mix small batches of hummus
- make graham cracker or other cookie crumbs for pie crusts
- blend salad dressing
- puree fruits and vegetables for muffins, soups or sauces
- make peanut or other nut butters from scratch
- whip heavy cream
- make fruit + veggie smoothies or milkshakes
it’s powerful + well made.
A 700 watt motor means that the Ninja Fit Personal Blender can handle anything you throw at it — from ice to whole almonds to frozen berries — without stalling. I’ve been amazed by how powerful it is! I also love that the base motor unit is squat and relatively heavy which makes the whole machine very stable.
it’s super easy to clean.
One thing I really love about the Ninja Fit Personal Blender is how easy it is to clean. The blade assembly is removable from the base so you can just pop it in the dishwasher or give it a quick rinse in the sink (just be careful — those powerful blades are sharp!) The blender cups are also dishwasher safe and are made from a BPA free plastic that doesn’t hold scent/flavor. This means that the strawberry milkshake you make today won’t taste like the garlicky hummus you made yesterday! By the way, I don’t have a dishwasher so just wash the cups and blade in hot soapy water which gets everything clean and fresh smelling. Be sure to let the cups dry thoroughly before reattaching to the blade or the tops as trapped moisture can lead to funky smells. Or just store the cups separately as I do.
it’s streamlined and easy to store.
The base unit is 4″ x 7″ so doesn’t take up much room at all! Each cup (the blender set comes with 2) is only about 7″ tall as well, so the whole unit should fit nicely in a kitchen cabinet. I keep my Ninja Fit in a basket so all the pieces are together and easily accessible.
it’s easy to operate
- Place food in the 16 oz plastic cup
- Screw on blade unit
- Invert onto motor base
- To chop, pulse the cup up and down until ingredients are the proper consistency
- To blend, hold down the cup until ingredients are smooth
- Remove cup, unscrew blade unit and dispense food
- OR unscrew blade unit and attach a spout lid for on the go smoothies, etc
See it in action!
it’s reasonably priced
For all it does, I find the $50-60 price very reasonable. The unit comes with 2-16 oz cups and lids, the base unit and screw on blade plus a recipe booklet.
ninja fit personal blender limitations
I use a lot of nuts in my recipes and was hoping the Ninja Fit could make quick work of chopping them. Unfortunately, in my tests, the nuts on the top remain whole while the ones near the blade are completely pulverized. So nut chopping is a no-go.
Also, while the 16 oz cups are big enough for small batches of hummus, etc. you’ll still need a full size food processor for larger jobs.
Summary of the ninja fit personal blender review
All in all, for its versatility, power, ease of use and price, I believe the Ninja Fit Personal Blender is a kitchen must have!
